Portrait Olivier Lalin

Award winning, wedding, France, Marriage, olivier lalin, paris, photographer, photographe, Noir et Blanc, classique
One of my bride was kind enough to send me a photo of myself & her wedding photographer.
It was taken by a guest at one of my summer weddings in France @ Chateau de Champlatreux.
It shows the "Man at work": Happy, relaxed, goofy, enjoying a wonderful day.
I am showing this picture not so much to prove my good look but rather to convey the mood of a professional photographer at work!
I always tell my brides that they should make sure to book a photographer who loves his wedding work and does not photograph weddings only to pay the bills. i believe a wedding photographer has to be passionate about his craft in order to excel at the task at hand. Like a good wine, twenty years of experience transcend into a jolly fellow whose job ( his passion ) has become second nature. It is most important to get everyone to simply enjoy the photographer's company very quickly. Only then will you forget the fact that you are being photographed.
That's when magic happens!

family and pre-wedding portraits taken in Paris France by photographer Olivier Lalin
I am often asked whether I wouldn't mind photographing a family portait in Paris, a pre wedding portrait or simply documenting a celebration. Of course I do, it is simply a lot of fun!

Wedding in Jamaica

Posted by Olivier Lalinjamaica, wedding, photography, photographer, mariage, ceremony, Wedding+Vowes, destination+wedding, Caribbean+ wedding, the ritz carlton, wedding+hotel+france, resort+wedding+south+france

Where would one want to get married in Jamaica!
The Ritz Carlton, Montego Bay is a FABULOUS destination. Winding through the mountains of Jamaica's historic 5,000-acre Rose Hall Plantation, The White Witch Golf Course makes it even more of an ideal wedding destination. The course is carved out of 600 acres of lush greenery and rolling countryside that features panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea from 16 of its 18 holes. Conveniently located just ten minutes from the hotel...

The University Club Experience

This is my favorite wedding reception site in the big Apple, I love this place!
The University Club of New York, located at 1 West 54th Street at Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, New York, NY is a private club. It received its charter in 1865, but the origins date back to the autumn of 1861 when a group of college friends, principally Yale alumni, founded the club hoping to extend their collegial ties....

Nice words from Bob Davis at bella pictures!

posted by Olivier Lalin -
I just read those words this morning written by Bob Davis, chief photographer at bella pictures. He happened to photograph the wedding of Tony Parker in Paris this Summer.
I could relate to every words and I thought I would pass it on.
"...We were so blessed with the opportunity to photograph the
wedding of Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmond's wedding on a private island just off the coast of Bora Bora. I think what's truly amazing is that we were chosen to photograph their wedding. I mean that wholeheartedly. Me, Bob and George, we're just 3
people from a small town. What we've done... is never given up. We
knock on doors all the time, a lot of times the doors close and we
find ourselves knocking again. We never give up on our dreams. We try
very hard to meet and exceed all our clients expectations and then we
keep knocking. If I can give any piece of advise to someone who
asks... it's use whatever resources you have to make your dreams come
true. They are probably not going to just happen, you have to do what
you can to make them happen. Visualize them happening, think
positively, do whatever good you can to move forward and the doors
will open. They've opened for us. And for that we are so appreciative.
We thank God everyday for our blessings! Amen..."

Traditional French Wedding: CROQUEMBOUCHE CAKES!

Posted by Olivier -
Another French wedding tradition is the Croquembouche cake- Literally meaning “crack in one’s mouth” a croquembouche is a traditional French wedding cake consisting of puffs of choux pastry filled with a vanilla creme patissiere, held together with a delicious cobweb of caramel. Hum, I am hungry .... Although traditionally decorated with sugared almonds, most couples prefer the more delicate decoration of tiny fresh flowers, fine curls of ribbon, and of course, a web of spun sugar.
Spun sugar does not last well on wet and humid days, and turns into shiny droplets of caramel. Spiralled ribbons can achieve a similar effect to spun sugar and can produce a spectacular effect by using two or more colours. This croquembouche’s upright shape is suitable for smaller weddings.

This croquembouche can be displayed with a generous drizzle of dark chocolate and perhaps strawberries around the base, or chocolate glaze can be supplied ready for pouring instead of the traditional cutting of the cake.

Luxury Boats for intimate Wedding on the Seine

Posted by Olivier Lalin -

Enjoy a reception-cruise on
the most beautiful place in Paris; the Seine.

I am shooting a very intimate wedding in a few days on a Luxury Boat named "the Cashemire". I used to shoot for boating magazines and photographed "La Nioulargue" in St Tropez a couple of years in a row.
I have a fascination for "Rivas" and Classic sail boats. So when I found out I was going to photograph a very intimate wedding on a luxury boat on the river seine, I was actually quite exited!

Yachts de Paris has plenty of information for the yacht-loving couples:
"So what about the Cashemire; a yacht completely designed by Yachts de Paris, luxury is all around : Baccarat glassware and candle holders, velvet upholstered armchairs, a roof that opens, forward and rear decks, gangways… give in to the charms of the Cachemire.
With a length of 24 meters, it accommodates from 2 to 12 people ; Cachemire is the only boat on the Seine where you can have lunch or dinner outside, to 12 people.

With its teak decks, acajou wood, copper fittings, uniformed crew and elegant dining, Yachts de Paris offers a unique setting in which to share extraordinary moments with your guests."

French style Celebrity wedding

Posted by Olivier Lalin -
I realized this morning walking down the streets of Paris that my last weekend wedding in Chantilly had made the news !! Although it was supposed to stay VERY PRIVATE. IT is making the cover of most Paparazzi decent and other French Publications.
Here is the very Flamboyant cover of ICI PARIS! With my partner thierry and I
snapping away in one of the cover photo - Funny.... I did hear the paparazzi screaming for the photographers to move out of the way at some point - Must have been us ..I wonder!

We took some quite beautiful pictures of the Day which unfortunately will stay in my draws. None of the photos are to be viewed by the Public! So get Ici Paris while it is stil hot!
Chantilly is a great Location. You can always contact
Carole Desmetz about hosting your own wedding at the Castle.

The Angel Orensanz Foundation

Posted by Olivier Lalin -
The Angel Orensanz Foundation for the Arts was established in 1992 by a group of artists who were inspired by the work of sculptor Angel Orensanz.
In a short period of time it has affirmed itself as a strong anchor of the visual and performing arts in New York.
Well-established institutions such as the PS I Museum; The Goethe Institute, New York; the Italian Cultural Institute; New York University; Columbia University; Princeton University and the National Russian Museum of St. Petersburg, as well as independent artists from all over the world develop here educational and artistic projects.

The Angel Orensanz Foundation was once a synagogue located in the lower east side of New York City. This dramatic 1849 building is now open to anyone who wants to throw a party. Ironically, it looks a lot like an old church: thick Gothic-style windows, a deep-blue, incredibly dramatic rib-vaulted ceiling, and even an elaborate Gothic arch.
