A wedding photographer in Paris, c'est moi!

I do hope that you will all enjoy this little " About me " wedding video -
It made me laugh indeed as well as quite a few friends :)

The New York magazine wedding issue is out - I do love this magazine, It is the best resource for New York city weddings - Like a little bible, you will find everything you need to know and more in this wedding special summer issue that happily comes out in newsstand every season.

We do specialize in high end weddings in between New York and Paris, France. "Tom Starkweather" is joining force with our New York Bureau as a young, up and coming, very talented photographer. I love Tom's work, he has a great eye and I am so glad he is now collaborating to "Olivier Lalin weddings".
I am myself spending more time in Paris developing our New York "savoir faire" and a new European bureau. I will post our weddings in the south of France later on this summer. Meanwhile I am off reading an article by "Ron Ben-Israel" on trendy cake flavors as well as "Olivier Cheng " who wrote about dressing up old favorites.

The villa Ephrussis a French seaside palazzo constructed between 1905 and 1912 at Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat on the French Riviera by Baroness Béatrice de Rothschild (1864-1934). It was designed by the Belgian architect Aaron Messiah. A member of the prominent Rothschild banking family and the wife of the wealthy Russian banker Baron de Ephrussi, Béatrice de Rothschild built her rose-colored villa on a promontory on the isthmus of Cap Ferrat overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Considered one of the finest properties on the Riviera, beyond its seven themed gardens, the Baroness filled the mansion with antique furniture, Old Master paintings, sculptures, objets d'art, and assembled an extensive collection of rare porcelain.

On her death in 1934, the Baroness gifted the property and its collections to the Académie des Beaux Arts division of the Institut de France and it is now open to public visitation.

The villa is now the location of the annual summer opera festival, Opera Azuriales.
It is a splendid venue for a south of France wedding

Wedding photos taken with a Rolleiflex. I've had this Rolleiflex alongside my journeys for many years. It is what you call a twin lens 2 1/4 medium format camera-
I will just say that it has a beautiful lens, softens the light, uses film and is great for portraits. The images of Heather and Charles's wedding were taken in the Adirondacks lakes region, Up-State New York. First, I love this square format. I love the way you approach a portrait using a rolleiflex. It is straight forward and quite simple after all. You touch the essence of photography which is to capture" the within ".

Destination weddings - Love it

I have just spoken to a Bride who is getting married in St Vincent in August 2007. She was inquiring about my availability and whether I wouldn’t mind traveling to the Caribbean for the wedding. As a matter of fact, most of my weddings are Destination weddings.

I do travel worldwide to photograph weddings in the most exquisite locations. This is such a Bliss. Not only did I managed to make a career out of a passion but I am getting paid to travel to destinations where I would probably never have been otherwise. Destination weddings takes a bit more organization with logistics, ect - But I love the “adventure” aspect of a destination wedding. I do need a budget for my assistant unless guests do not exceed 100. I usually spend three days with the wedding party that gives me lots of time to produce wonderful images. Then if I am lucky, I will stay an extra day. In St Vincent, I will probably end up staying another week and relax before the wedding season begins in NYC.
